Well, that was thrilling. If you want to be a sports commentator there are really only a few phrases which you need to know:

Prefix every other sentence with the words "At the end of the day". For example, "At the end of the day Howard's performance was utterly lame. He should have been taken off the field and shot".

Remember to use the phrase "It's a unique occasion", especially when it isn't.

When commentating upon a snooker match try to slow down..your..voice...whilst also getting...quieter...to build tension. Then after the shot you can speed up with some sudden outburst such as "where on earth was that shot supposed to go?"

In a race don't forget to describe the back runners either as "lazy", "pedestrian" or (my favourite) "melingerers".
